By Adeola Eka (The AI Wonderwoman)
Whenever people hear the words Artificial Intelligence, the first emotion is usually fear.
Many creatives ask:
“Is AI here to replace us?”
Before I answer that question, I’d like to hear from you.
Do you believe AI is replacing human creativity?
Some people believe AI has become almost everything.
Some fear it has more ideas than humans.
Others worry it will replace writers, poets, artists, teachers—even entire professions.
These concerns are understandable.
But here is the truth.
AI Is Not Replacing Poets
AI is giving poets superpowers.
The poets who embrace AI today will not stop writing.
They will simply earn more from what they write.
Tonight, I want to show you how your poems can become:
- Books
- Videos
- Songs
- Courses
- Merchandise
- Businesses
- Multiple streams of income
without losing your authentic voice.
Let Me Ask Another Question
What scares you most about AI?
Perhaps your answer is:
- It looks smarter than humans.
- It keeps improving every day.
- It may take away jobs.
- It seems to know everything.
These fears deserve honest answers.
AI Is Not Smarter Than You
AI processes enormous amounts of information in seconds.
That is its strength.
But AI has no childhood memories.
It has never experienced heartbreak.
It has never buried a loved one.
It has never fallen in love.
It has never stood before an audience with trembling hands.
It has never cried over a poem.
Those experiences belong to you.
AI learns from human-created knowledge.
It predicts patterns.
It generates possibilities.
But meaning…
purpose…
emotion…
wisdom…
still come from human beings.
You remain the creator.
AI is your assistant.
AI Replaces Repetition, Not Imagination
Many people think AI replaces creativity.
It doesn’t.
It replaces repetitive work.
The repetitive tasks of formatting, editing, researching, organising, designing, brainstorming, and repurposing can now be done much faster.
That leaves you with more time to do what only you can do:
Create.
Dream.
Imagine.
Feel.
A Hard Truth
Let me shock you.
It is not AI replacing humans.
It is humans who know how to use AI replacing those who refuse to learn it.
Every major technological shift has created this pattern.
The Industrial Revolution.
The Internet.
Smartphones.
And now AI.
Some jobs disappear.
New ones emerge.
Before AI, there was no role called Prompt Engineer.
Today, companies around the world pay professionals simply because they know how to communicate effectively with AI systems.
The future belongs to lifelong learners.
But Please Remember This
If you forget everything I say tonight…
Remember this one sentence:
Never allow AI to replace your thinking.
Use AI to strengthen your thinking.
Not substitute it.
The greatest danger isn’t AI becoming intelligent.
The greatest danger is humans becoming intellectually lazy.
Always think first.
Then ask AI to help.
Not the other way around.
Protecting Your Creativity
A question I hear often is:
“How do we stop AI from stealing our creative works?”
This is an important concern.
Around the world, governments are working on AI regulations.
Many countries are updating copyright laws to address AI-generated content.
Here in Nigeria, copyright law already protects original literary works, although AI-specific regulations are still evolving.
The safest approach is this:
- Keep records showing when you created your work.
- Publish under your name.
- Register your work where appropriate.
- Read the terms of AI platforms before uploading unpublished material.
- Use AI to enhance your creativity—not to surrender ownership of it.

One Final Thought
The world is no longer asking,
“Can you write?”
It is asking, “Can people discover your writing?”
AI helps your creativity travel farther, faster, and to more people.
But never forget:
The pen still writes the story.
AI simply helps the story travel.
Don’t compete with AI.
Collaborate with it.
Because the future belongs to creatives who combine imagination with intelligence—and know how to use both human creativity and artificial intelligence wisely.
And for my fellow poets, I’ll leave you with one final writing reminder:
«A poem should end when the emotion has landed—not when every thought has been explained.»
Think of your ending as a stone dropped into a still lake. The final line is the stone. Once it touches the water, trust the reader to feel the ripples.
Before ending any poem, ask yourself:
- Have I said the one thing I came to say?
- Will one more line make it stronger—or weaker?
- Does my final line leave the reader thinking, feeling, or seeing something new?
Sometimes, what you leave unsaid is what echoes the longest.
I cannot wait to see the incredible things each of you will create.
Assignment:
Before tomorrow evening, use ChatGPT to transform one of your poems into three different formats:
- A social media post
- A spoken-word video script
- A children’s story
Share your results.
Let’s begin building not just poems—but sustainable creative careers.
Thank you.
