Poetry is the craft of arranging words in ways that evoke meaning, stir emotions, and paint vivid images. For many poets, the creative process often feels solitary. We write alone, reflect alone, and sometimes wonder why our voices remain unheard. Collaboration changes this dynamic. It expands poetry beyond the page, offering new ways to experience and share it.
Using my own journey as a case study, I have been reimagining poetry by blending it with sound, image, and performance. I also use it as a tool to address pressing social issues. This approach makes poetry more experiential and transformative.
Poetry as a Collaborative Project
Poems do not have to exist only as written words. They can evolve into chapbooks, exhibitions, stage plays, short films, or even mini-documentaries. When poetry meets collaboration, it gains new life and depth. The themes can be rooted in personal passions, social issues, or global conversations.
Last year, I created a poetic project titled Sonder With Sonde. It contained four poems exploring the hidden complexity of our shared human experiences. Each poem reflected how we perceive the world differently, yet remain connected by common threads. While the collection was powerful, I sensed something missing. I then collaborated with a visual illustrator, which gave the project new energy and resonance. Together, we built something more immersive:

Through this collaboration, audiences connected more deeply with the work. Visual elements brought layers of emotion that enriched the poems, making the experience multi-sensory and more engaging.
